This drawing demonstrates Tesla's idea of wireless technology by showing him holding two light bulbs, which aren't plugged into anything to power them.

In 1901, Tesla was funded by J.P. Morgan (with $150,000) to create a tower that would be able to use natural frequencies from our universe to transmit data. This meant that if the tower worked, people could contact each other from across the world. The tower was a representation of the world’s first wireless communications. If the tower worked correctly, Tesla could provide the world with free energy. Tesla sold many patents for this idea, but it was never executed. The tower was built in 1901, but was never activated.
