Over the course of his career, Tesla exchanged money for his inventions with many people, including Alfred Brown and Charles Peck. The two had agreed to buy Tesla's AC generator after Tesla demonstrated the basics of a rotating magnetic field, which was what he used in his generator. Tesla agreed to split his patents with the two in exchange for funding for his own company.
